Leinster brings home the title from the interpros

Samantha Kenny

Yesterday afternoon saw top swimmers from each province decscend on the National Aquatic Centre for the annual schools Inter-Provincial Swim meet.

The competition is renowned for the fierce competitiveness over who will bring home the cup and the swimmers showed that competitiveness in the pool as they battled each other out for top spot in each of the events.

Leinster did not disappoint on the day. Led by captains Killian O'Loughlin Brophy and Leagh Bailey, the squad gave every individual event and relay all they had and their hardwork paid dividends.  Taking top spots in numerous individual and relay events, including breaking a National Relay Record; they demonstrated the hours and months of training devoted to their passion and emerged victorious

.

Highlight of the day was the 17-19 boys relay team of Killian O'Loughlin Brophy, Liam, O'Connor, Sean Donnellen and Emmet Cousins not only winning the 200m Medley Relay, but also breaking the National junior short course record in the process, subject to ratification.

We would like to thank all the swimmers for representing the province, the coaches, Marina, Alan, Keith and Cian for all their hard work supporting the swimmers and the Officials, volunteers and team managers, without them none of this would have been possible.
