First Leinster Regional Stage 1 Athlete Camp of The Season Enjoyed By All
It was the turn of the Stage 1 athletes on Saturday 28th September. Aged between 13 and 15 years old, this cohort were invited to partake in a day of pool based training, land based training and a sports psychology session.
A mix of both boys and girls worked hard in the pool, training with other similarly aged athletes from various Leinster based clubs, they learnt new skills that they can benefit their future endeavours.

Land based training was a session filled with smiles, though they worked hard, the opportunity to socialise, chat and forge friendships was enjoyed by all. The smiles showed how much commeraderie was in the room and the support of their fellow athletes made the work feel less tiring, you could hesistantly say, some may have even enjoyed it.

After exercising the body, it's also important to not only exercise the mind, but also support our mental well being. This took the form of a session discussing various aspects of mental health and well being with a particular focus on the role the athletes brain can have on them in the pool during a race, outside the pool before the race and also all round during their day to day lives.
The athletes were not only given a talk as an entire group, but were also given small group tasks showing the importance of collaboration and team work and how they can support each other.

All in all a fantastic day was had, and we look forward to welcoming the athletes back for their next camp. Huge thanks to all the volunteers, coaches and relevant professionals, without your support the athletes camp wouldn't be what it is.
